More elephant parade

I just realized that I totally forgot to post, when I finished the turtle and frog from the Elephant Parade. Oops!

I just need to embroider the pupils in the eyes. They won't look like zombies, then.

And one more mommy elephant, that I cut and pieced last night.

I'm not likely to get anything done today or tonight, because it's Grandparent Day in kindergarten and there's literally no one else but me, to be there for my son. (So I guess the baby won't be getting a nap.) And then I'm going to work tonight, during usual sewing time.

More mystery

Two more blocks are finished in my quilt-along efforts with Pat Sloan's 2015 Mystery, called Vacation Time.

Block 1: Under the Boardwalk
Just finished:
Block 2: Toes in the Sand (a heart version)
Block 3: Surf's Up

Pat mentioned in her introduction of Toes in the Sand, that since it was revealed in February, she couldn't help but make it a bit of a heart-shape. Well, as soon as I read that, I couldn't get hearts out of my head. I couldn't get the block to make sense to me as anything but a heart. And apparently I wasn't the only one, because I saw several "hearts" shared.

Oh and goody goody!
I found a new favorite Etsy shop for fabric! Maggie Anne Designs from California. She is great to work with (several great conversations about what she had available), and great service. And just two business days to ship:
Look what came in the mail, for me to finish the ModaLove Sunnyside quilt! Yippee!

Happy St Patty's Day

Happy St Patrick's Day to all o'you !

Not much going on here, except a sick kiddo home from school, and me recovering a bit from a cold over the weekend.

I joined a Facebook group for swapping charm squares. It's a lot of fun, but hard work cutting all those squares and finding fabric (especially from my stash), for the swap. We swap 6 charms at a time: 6 different fabrics. I think I'm thoroughly worn out, but I still have some birthday charms to cut.

I finally got the March Themed Charm Swap charms cut and organized, ready to mail. The March theme is green and gold--fitting for St Patty's Day! Since I signed up for two groups, I had to find 12 fabrics!

Cutting cutting cutting

First, I forgot to post a picture of my completed large elephants (minus the embroidered eyes). I decided to be a bit playful, and the large elephants are my husband and I, and the three baby elephants in each row are our three boys.  I'm using scraps leftover from their baby quilts for the ears, to represent each boy.

Then I made a list of things I need to cut. It's a huge list.

I accomplished two of them. I cut all the pieces for the Pat Sloan blocks 2 and 3.

And yes, those are Dove Dark Chocolate Mint swirl Promises. Yum yum. Extra chocolate is needed right now in my time of stress.

Elephant Parade progress

I'm participating in Sew Fresh Quilts's Elephant Parade QAL. I'm making some good progress.
#elephantparadeqal

It's finally looking like a little parade!

Since each row of the quilt has a mommy/daddy and 3 baby elephants, I thought they would represent me and my 3 boys. So I will use scraps of blue, green, and gold that I used in their baby quilts, for the ears. Hubby gets red ears, and I'll use purple for me.

Once you cut all the little pieces, these elephants go together quickly.
I cut pieces for the other four large elephants, and also the frog and turtle. I ran out of the blue background after the elephants.
